Testing
SAT®
The SAT Program administers both the SAT Reasoning Test™, also known simply as the SAT, as well as SAT Subject Tests. The SAT is a three-hour test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills students have developed over time and skills they need to be successful in college. Many colleges and universities use the SAT as one indicator among others of a student's readiness to do college-level work. Subject Tests are one-hour, mostly multiple-choice tests that measure how much students know about a particular academic subject and how well they can apply that knowledge. The SAT and SAT Subject Tests are offered at testing sites worldwide.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
This standardized test, administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS), is required by many U.S. colleges and universities to evaluate the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. The test measures the ability to understand North American English in multiple-choice format and consists of three sections: Listening Comprehension, Structure and Written Expression' and Reading Comprehension.
GRE (Graduate Record Examination)
The GRE exam, also administered by ETS, is for undergraduate and college graduates wishing to pursue a graduate degree. GRE is similar to the SAT and SAT Subject Tests in that it offers both a more general reasoning exam and more specific subject tests in 16 different areas.
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
The GMAT, sponsored by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and administered by ETS, measure language, quantitative and writing skills and is required for admission into Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs at most institutions in the United States.
