Scoring Rubric
Your artwork will be evaluated on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = Poor; 2 = Weak; 3 = Moderate; 4 = Strong; 5 = Excellent) in the following four categories:
- Viewer engagement
- Artistic intent and originality of ideas
- Use of media and technique
- Alignment with theme
Viewer engagement
- Work does not engage the viewer; composition lacks imagination.
- Work is slightly engaging; composition demonstrates some imagination.
- Work is somewhat engaging; composition demonstrates some imagination.
- Work is engaging, evocative, and confident; composition is innovative and unique.
- Work is exceptionally engaging, evocative and confident; composition is highly innovative and unique.
Artistic intent and originality of ideas
- Artistic intent is very unclear. Ideas presented are a copy or appropriation of another artist’s creation.
- Artistic intent is unclear. Ideas presented may be a copy or appropriation of another artist’s creation.
- Artistic intent is somewhat clear. Ideas presented do not seem to be a copy or appropriation of another artist’s creation.
- Artistic intent is clear. Ideas presented are not a copy or appropriation of another artist’s creation.
- Artistic intent is obvious. Ideas presented are original.
Use of media and technique
- Use of media and technique is poor.
- Use of media and technique is weak.
- Use of media and technique is good.
- Use of media and technique is strong.
- Use of media and technique is excellent.
Alignment with theme
- The work does not to align with the theme.
- The work barely aligns with the theme
- The work shows some alignment with the theme.
- The work shows alignment with the theme.
- The work demonstrates strong alignment with the theme.
