For the fourth year, the College Board held its annual #Collegiance contest, which encouraged students to celebrate their college decision with a creative Instagram post. Students who pledged their collegiance to their future college with a fun photo, Boomerang, or video were considered for a chance to win money for college.

More than 140 students and teachers from 16 school districts across North Carolina gathered at the State Capitol in Raleigh on May 30 to thank legislators for supporting the North Carolina Advanced Placement Partnership (NCAPP) and to advocate for inclusion of AP in the state’s accountability system.

College Board Members Gather in New Delhi to Announce the Launch of the India Global Higher Education Alliance

On May 23, the College Board formally launched the India Global Higher Education Alliance in India at the inaugural Symposium in New Delhi. This event brought together founding Alliance member universities from India, founding affiliate member universities from around the world, and secondary schools in India to have important discussions about how to ensure access, inclusion and excellence in the transition to higher education in India.

This year’s commencement ceremony at William Rainey Harper College, a community college in Palatine, Illinois, was a special one for the graduates. First, this year’s commencement marked 50 years of Harper College and the closing of a yearlong anniversary celebration.

Department of Defense Investment Helps National Math and Science Initiative Expand AP Access to Military-Connected Students Across the Country

Thanks to a $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), an additional 44 high schools in 11 states are receiving an unprecedented level of support from the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) and the College Board to increase student success in Advanced Placement (AP).

Members of the Official SAT Practice Student Ambassador Program

Last fall, eleven school districts across the country partnered with the College Board to run the Official SAT Practice Student Ambassadors Pilot Program. Throughout the year, over 100  students engaged with their classmates and communities to spread the word about Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy.

New Article and Webinar on the Value of Assessment

Ad Astra, a course scheduling an enrollment management organization hosted a free webinar last week talking about the value of the standardized tests in predicting student retention, grade inflation, and discrepant achievement. Panelists included Measuring Success co-editor Lynn Letukas and Edgar Sanchez, a co-author of a chapter in the book.
