Announcement of AP Microeconomics Public Review Period
Announcement of AP Microeconomics Public Review PeriodMichael Preston, Associate Director of Communications
AP Microeconomics is currently undergoing review to ensure that it reflects the most current scholarship and advances in the field of economics and that the exam assesses current college-level expectations. The College Board is sharing an initial draft of the AP Microeconomics course materials and is asking for feedback to ensure that both the course and exam present a balanced view that does not favor one school of economic thought over another.
The draft course materials are intended to provide a clear and detailed description of the content and skills students need to master to qualify for college credit and/or advanced placement in microeconomics course work. The improved course would emphasize deep understanding with a focus on inquiry and reasoning, an integration of skills and content, clear articulation of required learning objectives, and flexibility for teachers to include the kind of experiences that will prepare students for success in subsequent course work.
The draft materials represent proposed improvements to the course that, if implemented, would take effect several years from now, at the earliest. As always, any updates to AP courses and exams will be announced to educators approximately two years before launch.
