The AP Annual Conference Launches in Houston
The AP Annual Conference Launches in HoustonChristina Macchiarola, Director, Communications at the College Board
Yesterday’s opening plenary kicked off with a series of touching student thank you videos honoring their AP teachers. The passion and dedication of AP teachers everywhere never cease to amaze, and it’s clear that there’s lots of #APTeacherAppreciation in the air.
Trevor Packer, Senior Vice President, AP and Instruction, then delivered some thank yous of his own. A self-professed C-student and Dungeons and Dragons aficionado, Trevor admitted that he wasn’t exactly a typical AP candidate when he was in high school. More importantly, as a low-income student, college didn’t seem within reach. But, thanks to the support from his teacher, principal, and his mother, he had the chance to earn college credit through AP, opening the door to his college career.
Starting in 2019, the AP program is making exciting changes that will empower the adults in students’ lives to deliver more opportunities and make AP (and college credit possibilities) even more accessible.
