Members learn and network at the Forum 2014 College Fair

Each year, the Forum features a unique college fair in which counselors have an opportunity to meet with admission and financial aid officers from member colleges and universities across the world. Attendees are able to visit, ask questions, and build partnerships with representatives from a wide range of institutions.

The College Scholarship Service Assembly gathered on Tuesday to discuss issues within the College Board and the financial aid community. Jeff Olson, who also presented for the Guidance and Admissions and Academic assemblies, gave financial aid professionals information about the College Board’s plan to improve the way the organization uses data, and the implications for financial aid in the future.

Curiosity drew a standing-room-only crowd of school counselors and administrators at 8:00am on Tuesday to hear from College Board’s Chief of Assessment Cyndie Schmeiser, Senior Vice President of Research Jack Buckley, and Vice President of SAT & PSAT/NMSQT Stacy Caldwell discuss the redesigned SAT.

Advisory Panel on Student Opportunity at Forum 2014

Forum attendees had the opportunity to hear from of the student members of the College Board’s Advisory Panel on Student Opportunity in a wide-ranging discussion covering topics from college search and recruitment to the redesigned SAT to access to rigorous coursework.

Khan Academy

Sal Khan, Founder of Khan Academy spoke at the College Board Forum 2014 and shared the philosophy of how their modules meet students where they are, allowing them to learn at their own pace. Khan explained how the partnership with the College Board will bring his vision for a free world-class education for anyone anywhere to life by preparing all students for the PSAT and SAT. He told the group of over 1,000 educators and administrators he’d like to take education and “make it more like clean drinking water and shelter – a fundamental human right.”
