"Variety if the spice of life" - trying different things lets young people experience variety, learning about what really interests them and gaining new skills. Focus is good but so is a wide general awareness. It made me sad to read " We’re noticing that college admission counselors appreciate the depth of knowledge and extracurricular involvement that students have attained. Students with resumes packed with tons of activities are not necessarily viewed as the best candidates. Admissions counselors want to see that students have taken a devout interest in select activities and nurtured their interests consistently." When do young people expand their horizons and learn the most if not when they are young and starting out in life. To pigeon hole can be to stifle potential.
