Members on the Web: High School Students Get a Sneak Peak at CollegeCollege Board Communications
Nancy Barile, a high school English teacher at Revere High School in Revere, Massachusetts, and member of the College Board’s New England Regional Council wrote recently for the Huffington Post on her experience attending ‘One Day University’ with her students. The program brings together distinguished professors from across the country to present special versions of their lectures to promote lifelong learning.
Barile's students—many of whom are low-income—found that the experience “sparked interest in subjects they never considered.”
Some of her younger students weren’t sure they wanted to go to college because they were “so fearful of what to expect,” but that those same students “felt much more empowered after attending One Day University, and have started their college planning.”
