Updates from the Ad Hoc Committee on Bylaws and Advisory Structures
Updates from the Ad Hoc Committee on Bylaws and Advisory StructuresPaul Sechrist, Chair, Ad Hoc Committee on Bylaws and Advisory Structures
The Trustee Ad Hoc Committee on Bylaws and Advisory Structures has completed the final report of the Committee, along with the accompanying revisions to the Bylaws of the Corporation. These are presented to the Members of the College Board with the unanimous and enthusiastic support of the Committee and the Board of Trustees.
This final report and revised Bylaws represent work that began in the fall of 2015. The Committee was committed to a thorough, transparent, collaborative process, which included a great deal of opportunity for the membership to be informed and provide input and feedback. This collaboration included two surveys, briefing sessions at numerous regional and national meetings, as well as the engagement of the regional and national assembly councils.
The final report and revised Bylaws are materially the same documents that were reviewed by delegates of at the 2017 Regional Forums, but reflect a few updates related to recent changes in New York State laws around nonprofit organizations. These new revisions reflect requirements regarding trustee committees, with a specific reference on the appointment and authority of the Executive Committee.
I must thank the members of the Committee and the College Board staff who have worked so diligently and with great care to ensure that both the process and final documents reflected the highest standards.
I invite you to review the report and the restated and amended bylaws here.
