When and Where

2014 Test Dates

Students take the PSAT/NMSQT at school on one of these two dates:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014
  • Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014

Does Your School Give the PSAT/NMSQT?

Look up your school to find out if and when it’s testing. Find another school and request to take the PSAT/NMSQT there if:

  • Your school isn’t offering the PSAT/NMSQT
  • You can’t test on your school’s test date
  • You’re a home-schooled student

Registration and Fees

Sign Up at School

Students sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT with their school counselor. Online registration is not available to students or parents.


The PSAT/NMSQT costs $14. Schools can request fee waivers for 11th-grade students.

Who Takes the PSAT/NMSQT

Over 3.6 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT each year. Only 11th-grade students can qualify for scholarships and recognition, but younger students benefit from early feedback on their skills.

Students with Disabilities

Students whose disabilities affect participation in the PSAT/NMSQT are eligible to take it with accommodations. However, the use of any accommodation must be approved by the College Board.

Requests should be complete by August 27, 2014.
